Sea horse info

Fun fact of the day! Did you know male sea horses GIVE BIRTH? And even weirder, they give birth THROUGH THEIR CHESTS. I watched the video in English today and oh my gosh it looks like an evil alien octopus is trying to be expelled from the sea horses chest. The baby sea horses tails are hanging out from the dad’s stomach and their tails are just floating and flipping in the water it’s so weird!! It’s creepy and the babies look like skeletons. My English teacher decided that the class needed to see it today and she was right when she said it’s disgusting. The poor daddy seahorse looks like he’s trying to throw up but nothing wants to come out. And there is a HOLE in his CHEST filled with babies! Seahorses can carry from fifty to fifteen hundred eggs, depending on the size of the seahorse. When he is giving birth he literally has to grab on to something with his tail to help him it’s so sad and disgusting at the same time I don’t know what to think. Male seahorses are “pregnant” from anywhere between two to four weeks and contractions can last up to twelve hours! Baby seahorses are also known as fry. That is probably the weirdest name to give them especially since they look nothing like fries and don’t even look like they were fried so I think that’s a poor choice in the naming system. Less than one thousand fry will survive because of predators. I never knew how weird sea horses could be, but thank you Ms. B for reminding the human race that child birth can be so much more difficult then what we do.
